COOKBOOK CLUB
I founded a cookbook club in 2015. We’re still going strong.
I’ve always been passionate about food. I’m the type of person who reads recipes for fun and I feel most calm in the kitchen. I’ve also always loved the satisfaction of making something from raw ingredients and mastering new cooking techniques.
And, of course, I love to eat!
Back in 2015, I had just moved back to DC and was craving a creative outlet and an excuse to reconnect with old friends. Enter: a lucky moment when I stumbled across a fantastic Serious Eats essay (which sadly has been taken down) about the magic of cookbook clubs—monthly potlucks where everyone brings a recipe from the same cookbook.
I fell in love with the idea, posted about starting one on social media, and never looked back!
I’m most proud of →
How we always prioritize cookbooks that are in stock at the library, so affordability is not a barrier to entry
Our user-friendly Google spreadsheet that tracks where we’ve been and what we’re cooking next
Pulling off some pretty amazing fundraisers to support World Central Kitchen and Syrian refugees (with food from Vegetables Unleashed and Our Syria)
Finally learning how to properly deglaze a pan
