MAPPING PUBLIC SPACES

I’ve always been genuinely fascinated at how people move through space.

After years of running unobtrusive studies of visitors’ behaviors in museums, I’ve seen firsthand how juicy insights about behavior patterns deepens understanding of the value a space is (or isn’t) providing people.

Today, I’m really interested in taking my experience designing behavioral studies in museums and thinking about the use of other types of public spaces, especially in cities. I also find myself questioning how to ethically study people’s behavior. What are the best methods to help us understand how people move through space? Is it reasonable to assume that if you’re in a public space, someone might be watching? How can we, as researchers, make sure our activities have a heart?

City planners and behavior researchers, hit me up to discuss!
